Chris McClung, MD
Reconstructive Urologist Columbus, OH
Born and raised in Ohio, Dr. Chris McClung left home to study chemistry and medicine in Oklahoma, Minnesota, and Philadelphia. Once he decided to focus on urologic surgery, Dr. McClung trained with experts in Chicago and Washington for seven years.
During his residency at Loyola University in Chicago, Dr. McClung learned the basics of urologic surgery from Dr. Robert Flanigan, a renowned urologist and researcher. As a fellow, Dr. McClung focused on the advanced art of reconstructive urology with Dr. Hunter Wessells and Dr. Bryan Voelzke at the University of Washington.
After his fellowship training, Dr. McClung returned to Ohio to practice his specialty as a faculty member at The Ohio State University for five years where he is still an adjunct professor.
As a reconstructive urologist with an interest in prosthetics, Dr. McClung performs highly complex procedures to repair or redesign the male genitals. Examples include urethral reconstruction, concealed penis repair, penile implant, and transgender surgery.
“I believe that physicians and patients should be a team. My job is to inform patients of their options and help them select one that will meet their goals and needs.”
When he is not seeing patients, Dr. McClung dedicates his free time to his family. He loves being outside and throwing the football with his son. He also likes to run, bike, and go to the gym.
